Finally! It stops raining!

Hey guys!

So yea... Today work started a little later because of the rain, finally it stops! Apparently its been raining for 3 days none stop, hadn't really realize that. Work was boring with a very boring thing to do today. But I didn't do much as it was close to knock off time.

Won't be doing much work in the office tomorrow as I'm off in the morning to go shoot at Chinatown, not sure which temple so will have to contact my boss in the morning to check the exact name so I can find the exact location, go there, shoot and go off. I'm still wondering if I should take my flash... Its seriously great to have my FL-50R back despite my 45 CL-1 being my work horse.

Speaking of flash.. I wanna get this DVD when it launches! By Joe McNally! Or featuring him... Not too sure... Check it out here!

As I'm typing, its raining again... Oh well, it was nice while it lasted :) Just hope that it stops tomorrow so I need not carry an umbrella and more importantly... I CAN SHOOT! Speaking of shooting... Here are 3 images I shot with the XZ-1 in grainy film, pop art and pinhole, pretty decent from a compact, the wide aperture sure helps a lot! All shot in art filter mode. They were all shot on my way to lunch, with the XZ-1 in my back pocket, really pocket-able camera, something the PENs were not capable of unless one probably wears cargo pants, then again... I have no idea what in the world are cargo pants :S

Obviously grainy film art filter, shot from waist

What caught my attention of the flower is not the bright colour, but rather the black fly inside the bright flower, shot in pop art with macro mode

While waiting for my noodles, I just randomly shot this hahaha, I know the black part is distracting

I saw some good stuff to shoot, but since it was drizzling or the things I wanna shoot are not accessible, makes it kinda sad, but I shall not push my luck.

So I've passed another XZ-1 to another moderator, would be interesting to see everyone's review. Probably will write my own personal one here when I get back a set to do my own review on Clubsnap. Or I'll copy and paste. Eitherway, I don't gain anything hahaha

Oh ya! My mentor is back in Singapore! Thank God he had a safe flight :D I just realized that I have a follower on my blog, interestingly... He seems to follow people who have something to do with photography, just like a guy named Robin Wong from Malaysia, and Strobist blog. The others never seen before, I'm the only one that he's following that is not a full time photography blog. Not so sure about Robin's one, but it would seem that Robin has quite a bit of photography stuff on his blog. Either way, I guess a thanks would be in order? Thank you Glen whoever you are. I honestly have no idea who you are. I don't know any Glen in the physical world.

In the past 2 weeks, people have been trying to psycho me to sell of my dearly beloved E-3 in exchange for a spanking new E-5. While it is tempting, the fact that my E-3 is not used to its full potential, not its end of life. I don't see a need to upgrade since the E-3 has and still is serving me well, and despite its quirks, I still love it very much. E-5, you can go to someone else's home, I'll see your "descendant" in a few years time, if Olympus does decide to make it hahaha. Chinese new year is coming in a couple of days... I'm not sure if I should be excited but yea... When the time comes, I'll know... That's all for today. Before I go, I wanna say this to a dear friend of mine. Dear Siew Mei, cheer up, there will always be someone who will care and love you. How do I know this? Because I know I will always be there and will always love you. God loves you too :)

Good night world!

Olympus XZ-1 and E-PL2! Awesome cameras!

Hey guys!

Although my heading is about the Olympus cameras, no I'm not gonna talk much or post a review here, just gonna talk a little about it and show pictures. So lets see... My last post was on Tuesday...

Nothing much actually... The usual work and boredom that comes from not having much to do or waiting. Yesterday was Olympus handson. There were 2 sessions, I went early, but only went for 2nd session, 1st session was spent chatting with my friend Robin, hahaha.

So yesterday collected XZ-1s and E-PL2s with Simon and I'm apparently in charge of distributing it :S. Simon took 1 XZ-1 and I currently have 2 E-PL2s and 4 XZ-1s, soon it will be 1 E-PL2 and 3 XZ-1s.

So anyway... Nothing much to talk actually. OH! I got back my flash from Olympus yesterday as well. So far so good, got a new diffuser since my old one cracked. Have a nice day everyone!!!

P.S To add on, I just realize that that 14-42MKII AKA kit lens for the E-PL2, the barrel inside is silver, I always thought it was black :S

MY FL-50R! HOW I MISSED YOUR POWER! FL-36R was slow...

Olympus E-PL2 and Olympus XZ-1 in black XD My previous post some where shows E-PL2 comes in 4 colours, XZ-1 comes in black or white only :)

Olympus XZ-1, feels pretty good despite being small, feels solid

Flash popped up, capable of wireless flash, but seems like there is no control for wireless though -.-, other than TTL from my understand

Olympus E-PL2, quite a lot of improvements over the E-PL1, both externally and internally

With the flash popped up, feels more solid than the E-PL1 too

My Quantum Battery Pack!

Hey guys!!!

So yea... My Quantum battery pack has finally arrived along with my cable! The sad thing is, IT CANNOT FREAKING CHARGE! With the US adapter that is. I gotta wait for almost a month before I can actually buy the UK charger along with my other books. Can't wait! I don't feel any noticeable difference when I tried it yesterday. Shall try it again after I get my UK charger. I smelt smoke when trying to charge yesterday, but everything seems fine, so not gonna try it again :S

Here are some pictures of it!

The "lock" protecting the on/off button is gone which seems pretty common, doesn't really matter since it seems more like a hassle. So excited to use it! But gotta wait... As you can see, its pretty big, next to my wallet, and pretty heavy. That's pretty much it, gotta go, am in the office for my third week day 2 of my attachment! Gonna continue writing my story which my dear friend Hilwah wants to read hahaha. As well as shop online for some more books to buy, my "supply" of books is getting low. Dear Siew Mei, cheer up ok? :) Have a good day everyone!

Olympus E-PL2 and XZ-1 Handson

Hey guys!

Quick update, nothing much happened over the week since its just attachment. Today went down to Olympus an hour too early so ended up waiting for Amos and Krist. Played with the XZ-1 for a while before we went up for Krist to take the photos. Then we played with the E-PL2 before going down to have a drink.

Then Krist had to leave and I went up to listen to the E-PL2 and XZ-1 handson talk and took photos as usual and cleaning up afterwards. Some images... 3 to be exact!

Our model Shiqian, I thought she was older than me, turns out she's only 4 days older, she has a twin who wasn't around

The black XZ-1!

E-PL2s, comes in 4 flavors, red, silver, black and white

Sssssssoooooooooooooo........... The XZ-1 images are pretty good and well, it feels pretty well build, better than the LX3, not so sure if its better in feeling than the LX5 but it should be since LX5 is based on LX3 modified to have the data port. The E-PL2 has improved over the E-PL1, as well as the E-P1 and E-P2 by having a hard 3 inch screen instead of the indented screen which is pretty soft. Better finishing, improved ergonomics, better flash head design, it feels more solid as compared to the E-PL1. It even has a new data port! What else can I say... The red spot problem is there, but as Kirst said, its flare when aiming at a strong light source at a small aperture. Seriously... WHO THE HELL SHOOTS INTO LIGHT SOURCES?!?!?!? Other than that specific effect you want, but generally... In my entire photography life, I've only shot a couple of times into light sources, out of the thousands of images I've shot.

All in all... The E-PL2 and XZ-1 are designed to sell and are priced to sell as well. That's all I can really say. Good night world! Good luck Justina Tan Siew Mei! Good luck Melanie Ng Ming Li!

Second day, second week of attachment

Hey guys!

So before I get started, though nothing much, wanna share picture that I keep forgetting to share.

Credits to DM AKA Chris for the photo :D

As some might know, Joe McNally was in town giving a talk which Clubsnap was privileged to have. So there he is with the moderators XD

So yea... Nothing much actually, a bit more progression on video planning, which seems to be what I've been doing. Went back with my mother. That's pretty much all, since I'm mainly in the office rotting the day away. Good night world!

Nothing much

Hey guys!

So today work was extremely boring with nothing much to do. And the chicken rice stall wasn't open! Sad! So yea... That's pretty much it, boring quiet day in the office. Don't think Hilwah knows the existence of this place but, thank you Hilwah for being my friend :). Good night world!

Nothing much

Hey guys!

Second week of attachment starting tomorrow and I wonder what do I have to do. So didn't do much over the past few days. Saturday morning I went down to the office to tweak the computers in hopes that the network will be more stable especially when accessing network drives. Bought battery for my aunt's camera and met one of my fellow moderators to pass him the autography. On Saturday morning before going to the office, I met my buddy Jimmo for prata before going to the Joe McNally seminar. How I wish I could go but I just went with him to Shiro House outside the venue.

Today I went down to Chinatown to look for perfume for someone before going down to Clementi to support Justina and Melanie and the rest of the fencers in fencing. Though I didn't stay for the results due to backache.

Here are just 4 photos, didn't shoot much due to backache and lack of proper space to set up to shoot though that probably isn't a very good excuse, ah well... Enjoy!

Melanie looks so serious here

Justina preparing

First round, Melanie on the left vs Justina on the right

One of my favourite picture, looks like someone pointing a sword at Justina XD

Third day of attachment

Hey guys!

Currently in the office backing up data so I'd thought of doing a quick entry for yesterday. Nothing much happened really... Its quite boring in the office... As I was going home on the bus, I was thinking about what Joe McNally said during his talk the day before, and one really rang true. We are photographers, photographers do not belong in an office, we belong out there. And then I realize that I actually love being in the sun and sweating, I just hate to get sun burn. So yea... Just wanted to say this, gotta go now, see you all tonight! Or tomorrow XD

First Day Of Attachment And Inspirational Talk!

Hey guys!

Today was the first day of attachment. Woke up and went back to Queensway Secondary before going down to Tiong Bahru to have breakfast. Took 16 to work, which was went surprisingly fast though... The travel time, not the work hours, though it was pretty fast. I started at 8:30 instead of 9.

I set up the network printer which frankly wasn't really all too difficult, then I kinda destroyed the network and spent most of the day trying to get it back up and stable, which luckily it should be right now.

I finished pretty early and took a cab down to Vivo city for the Joe McNally talk. He was bigger than I thought, as big as I am actually. Met more of the moderators whom I didn't have a chance to meet last year at Clubsnap Live!@ SAM.

Thanks to another moderator SBS99, I got Joe's autograph! AWESOME!

All in all, it was really inspirational. I got to work tomorrow so good night world!

First Day Of Attachment Tomorrow!

Hey guys!

Sorry for the lack of updates as nothing much has happened. Basically I've been trying to bid for a Quantum Turbo battery pack which will really help with my flash usage. Just yesterday was the Sec 1 CCA recruitment drive, and for the first time, my Metz ran out of power, lucky I was smart enough to take my FL-36R, which reminds me, I have to call Olympus about my FL-50R.

So hopefully I'll get my battery pack. Tomorrow is gonna be a long day, morning go back to Queensway Secondary to give the photos, which I shot 250 plus and only have like 86, but those 86 were pretty good in my opinion, no idea to be happy or sad. Then go and have breakfast at Mac at Tiong Bahru Plaza before running down to the office for first day of attachment! After which ,I have to take a cab to Vivo City for a talk by Joe McNally. AWESOME!

That's pretty much it. Anyway... I was bored so I did a 3D version of ultimate Echo Echo, only his torso though, since doing the full thing will be time consuming though I took like half an hour to an hour to do his torso. Its to show Rizal that it can be done. I shall end it with the image of Ultimate Echo Echo. Good night world!

First entry of the new year

Hey guys!

How was your new year? I sure hope it's good! I didn't update cause nothing much happened recently though I had pizza today and long john silver the other day, the good thing is, after 3 months after staying away from them, I don't have that strong urge to constantly eat fast food, so I'm happy to say, ITS UNDER CONTROL! Though I'm still staying away from soft drinks.

Lets see... I repaired my DIY bounce card by using epoxy glue, at least... I think that's how its spelt, nothing big actually, just that the velcro is not sticky anymore. I'm gonna do my dembs bounce card in a bit.

Lets see... Nothing much really, meeting my sis Jia Zhen tomorrow for lunch, or today rather since its past 12 midnight. Slept at 4 this morning cause my aunt was scanning film. And I passed the Panasonic 14mm lens to another moderator who was on the way to Panasonic to return the lens. Good riddance to the lens actually, hahaha.

I was looking at my E-3, and it was like, I had an epiphany. The E-3 has and always served me well, and so did my E-1, so the E-5 is not really needed. But the E-1 rubber grip is driving me nuts and there's no apparent way to DIY stick it back since the rubber stretched. And I read a review somewhere that the E-1 feels like its built to last. So I shall use gaffer tape to seal and stick the rubber down when Olympus doesn't repair the E-1 anymore.

Looking at the E-1 and E-3, and thinking about the PENs, it sure makes me worried about the future, if I really switch camps due to the size issue, I'm gonna miss the colours, sharpness and price of the Zuiko lenses... Well... Only time will tell! The E-5 has been out for only a couple of months, may be getting one when I ORD anyway, unless the E-7 is released, announced or rumored to be announced XD.

In the meantime, I shall improve as a photographer and work towards being one so changing system isn't gonna be an issue! That's all for tonight, hopefully I got something better to do tomorrow. Good night world!
